Impulse buy of the week: Ciaté London nail polish

I will confess; I have always had a soft spot for Marie Claire magazine. In my defence, the journalism within has always been so much more sound than in similar magazines and they cover serious issues that others would not touch with a bargepole. But also, they often offer samples of expensive products which I would not shell money for without testing them first.

So when hubby and I were going about our business in the local supermarket I sneaked a copy of the October issue in the trolley so I could try a new nail polish for a fraction of its retail price. Because I also have a massive soft spot for nail polish.

Ciaté London

Ciaté London is a brand I haven’t come across before but when the packaging is this adorable I would probably struggle quite a bit to not invest into one. From the jolly old US of A, these ballerina-like “paint pots” have landed in the UK like a storm and are reasonably readily available from stockists here. On a quick look I located them at least in Boots and on Feel Unique.

The super cute aesthetics aside, the polish itself is easily applied, if a little watery. It’s pretty clear this polish will need a good few coated if you want full coverage, especially in the lighter tones. Mine was a pale pink colour called Amazing Gracie which took three coats to achieve the desired effect.

It takes a while to dry as well but as the polish makes no promises of being a “fast dry” one I’m not holding that against it. It gave me a good excuse to not help out with the dishes anyway, ha!

Ciaté London

The finished article is super glossy and has so far suffered through my clumsy routines without showing any signs of chipping or any other wear and tear for that matter. The colour is also super cute. I spruced it up with a random coat of blue glitter polish just because you know, sometimes you just gotta.

You can buy Ciaté London paint pots for around £9 online or grab the latest issue of Marie Claire for £2.50 and give one of the five available colours a go.

Have you tried the Ciaté London nail polishes? What did you think? Hit me up in the comments.

  • Hi there, I found your website by way of Google while trying to find a related topic, your website showed up, it looks great.

I’ve bookmarked it in my google bookmarks.

  • Its like you read my mind! You seem to know a lot about this, like you wrote the
book in it or something. I think that you can do with some
pics to drive the message home a bit, but instead of that, this is great blog.
An excellent read. I’ll certainly be back.

  • I couldn’t refrain from commenting. Exceptionally well written! http://www.yahoo.net
