(Next) 7 amazing bars in Chester you have to visit

I did a post about 7 amazing bars in Chester a while ago and have had this nagging feeling I should do a follow-up on it. Because Chester has so many more than just 7 amazing watering holes. So. Many. More. y’all.

The truth still is that the vast majority of my paychecks go to hanging out in the awesome boozers in Chester. And that means I am in the know about where you should go and indulge in whatever’s your poison.

So here you are, folks. Without further ado and in no particular order: the next 7 awesome bars in Chester:

Where: The Steam Mill, Steam Mill St, Chester CH3 5AN

What: Apart from being the top duckling spotting place during spring, Artichoke also has a solid selection of cask and keg beers and wines, and their gin list is the longest in Chester. Seriously, how many bloody gins does this place have? I’ve tried to find out but I always end up really wobbly headed the next day. They also make a mean martini.

Liquor & Co

Where: 31 Watergate St, Chester CH1 2LE

What: If you need to know anything about Liquor & Co it’s this: Their toilets have Instagram filters in the mirrors, there’s a secret bar at the top of the stairs and their cocktails are blooming insane. They once made one for me and named it “blood of my enemies”, because of course they did. The place oozes coolness.

The Faulkner

Where: 48 Faulkner St, Chester CH2 3BE

What: One of the strongest contenders when it comes to where I have a drink in Hoole. Their food is seasonal, local and really tasty. Their beer is cold, their wine is a-flowing and they also make a really good Bloody Mary for those days when the hangover is just too much. The staff here are just so darn lovely and there’s always a really good vibe going on. They also have a super cool beer garden tucked away at the back, which you’ll find if you know where to look.

Cellar Bar

Where: 19-21 City Rd, Chester CH1 3AE

What: There’s a reason why cellar bar has won the “Best Bar” award in Chester Beer Awards twice. It’s because it’s just that good. Their beer selection is second to none in the city and their staff know more about the stuff than any self-proclaimed beer geek. Whatever your poison, they have it here. Trust.

Brewhouse & Kitchen

Where: Love St, Chester CH1 1QY

What: The newest kid on the block in our fair city, the Brewhouse & Kitchen houses the old Forrest House and has transformed it from a sad and cold boozer into a modern bar with a brewery downstairs and some super awesome beers at the upstairs bar. Their menu is ever-changing and always matched up the beers they brew downstairs.

Telfords Warehouse

Where: Tower Wharf, Raymond St, Chester CH1 4EZ

What: Hands down, this is the best bar for music in Chester. And, as it so happens, at summertime it’s also the best place to catch some sun while hanging out at their canalside terrace. They’ve kept the old warehouse look to a T in this place and their beer selection is always on point.

Bear & Billet

Where: 94 Lower Bridge St, Chester CH1 1RU

What: As far as I know, this is the oldest pub in Chester. If not the oldest, then one of the oldest anyway. But I digress. You get a great selection of top tipples here and I have it on good authority that their food is award-winning. Regardless of the recent facelift its had, The Bear and Billet is a proper Ye Olde boozer with a modern twist and also a really nice, roaring fire for those cold winter nights.

Have I missed an awesome bar in Chester? Let me know in the comments and I might add it to the very probably third instalment of these blogs. I like them. They’re fun. But they don’t half make me thirsty!
