Meet the mighty Moose Coffee

Every time I pop over the Mersey to Liverpool or move around in Manchester, I just have to head over to Moose Coffee. It’s not negotiable. It’s a tradition that cannot be broken.

The reason is very simple. Their food is blooming amazing and they probably have the best cup of coffee in the North of England. There. I said it. It really probably is.

They bring the American Diner influenced breakfast and brunch experience ON like nobody’s business and it’s always fabulous. They recreate traditional American and Canadian dishes and put their own funky twist on them too.

They do seven different versions of eggs benedict and almost endless variations of pancakes. They do toast, they do homemade potato hashes, scrambled eggs in more ways you care to count… the list just goes on. Oh, and if you’re hankering for something post-breakfast they do pretty hefty sandwiches (with super charged with hunks of homemade specialty meats) and salads and (oh-my-gosh-yes) cakes too.

Point is, if you’re craving for it, they probably make it. And they make it very well. And they make lots of it! One thing these guys cannot be blamed for is stingy portions, as hubby and I have been known to split a sarnie on the odd occasion when we don’t arrive to the Moose starving. The portions are super generous. You have been warned.

My favourites are the New Hampshire Moose (eggs benedict served on a bagel with fresh smoked salmon and tons of their homemade hollandaise sauce) and the Rueben (toasted bagel filled with slow cooked salt beef brisket topped with melted Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, dill pickle and homemade mustard mayonnaise). I am still in the process of eating my way through the menu so this is not an exhaustive list but as it stands, I could easily have these two for the rest of my life and never be left wanting.

So if you’re in Liverpool or Manchester (or in Crosby as well, I haven’t visited this specific store but I’m fairly confident it’s as fabulous as the first two) and you’re hungry, you best check these guys out. And if you’re not hungry, their coffee is spot on too.

Just be prepared to wait for a while at busy times. I’m clearly not the only one who heard the call of the Moose the minute my tummy starts rumbling. The place gets really busy at times but trust me, it is worth the wait.

Have you been to the Moose? Tell me all about it already!

Gosh that sounds like a place I’d love to go to have a coffee 🙂 ! Looks so cosy & all too 🙂

  • There is no doubt about this post because they were chosen as an Excellent Eatery for 2 consecutive years. But according to your photos, it looks like their space can no longer accommodate the number of guests, maybe it’s time for a little expansion. Just a suggestion.

Everything looks amazing! The food, especially. I think it’s a great place to get coffee and experience good food while catching up with family or friends! I’d love to go here!

  • The decor makes me laugh, I love it so much. That drink looks perfect though, I love finding perfect little coffee shops.

  • Sounds like an incredible place to visit! It’s funny to hear what people think about as being American, too – for instance, I’ve never had eggs Benedict. But then, I’m from the South, and that’s a whole different sort of eating.

  • This place looks fantastic! I wish it were closer–I’d so go! I love all the decor.
