If Monday was a person, he or she would be my arch nemesis. I would spend considerable time plotting on how to destroy them. I would shake my fist into nothingness in a threatening manner, muttering things like “one of these days”. You know, the kind of stuff people with archenemies do.

Point is, I’m no good on Mondays. I’m most likely still recovering from the weekend’s shenanigans, I’m tired and unmotivated and running on half speed which means I’m totally unproductive. So if there was something that would make Mondays just that tiny bit more bearable I’d be totally up for it.

And there is. I don’t know about you guys but food always makes me feel like the world isn’t such a deep and dark place after all. If you throw in a few pints of really good beer I think we can even go as far as calling it a good day.

Cue Artichoke Bistro’s 2-4-1 pizza Mondays. If there’s one thing that will get me out of bed on a Monday morning it definitely is the promise of a mouth-watering pizza with some killer toppings for dinner. You heard me right; my day is infinitely better from the get go knowing that there is a tasty reward waiting for me. It’s kinda like the “carrot and stick” approach; work equals stick and pizza equals carrot.

Although carrots have nothing on these pizzas. They’re huge (I struggle to finish one by myself) and they’re loaded with tasty toppings. Just because they’re 2-4-1 don’t mean the guys at Artichoke go skimpy on the ingredients.

Prices vary from £11 to £12.95 per pizza, and here’s what you can get for your money:

Margherita–mozzarella, fresh tomato, garlic & basil(v)

Seafood(mackerel, salted anchovies, mussels, squid)with dill & black olive

Spicy meatballs & fresh chilli

Squid, chilli & wild rocket

Parma ham, poached pear & Gorgonzola

Goat’s cheese, roast pepper & oregano(v)

Wild mushroom, artichoke, truffle oil & garlic (no cheese) (v)

Mackerel, artichoke & samphire

Chicken, chorizo & rosemary

Italian meats & olives (Mortadella, Romano, Milano) =

Florentine – spinach, black olive &egg (v)

Roast pepper, artichoke & Parma ham

You can check out their full menu HERE.

Spoiler alert: the pizzas are amazing. I have literally eaten my way through the whole menu once or twice and will happily do it all over again. They’re not your typical run of the mill pizzas, they’re all special and a little bit magic. I mean, if anyone can convince this hardcore carnivore that a veggie pizza is the best thing since sliced bread (or pizza…) it’s totally the ArtiFolk.

But wait, there’s more! Artichoke also have a respectable selection of rotating real ales and craft beers, their wine list is a thing of beauty and they boast the largest gin selection in Chester. You heard me right. They have so many gins these almost need a menu of their own.

So keep your Monday Blues, my Mondays are made of win. With extra cheese and a pint on the side.
