The Liebster Award – Discover new Blogs

Aww you guys! I’m kinda stoked that I’ve been nominated for a Liebster award by the girlies behind IntotheCity and The Wandereuse. Cheers girlies. You rocked my little socks with your super kind words 😊

So what’s it all about then?

The Liebster Award is a way of recognizing fellow bloggers for their efforts and accomplishments, and spreading the blogger love in the interwebs. I’m all up for sharing the love with my fellow bloggers and hey, if I can find some new blogs to follow while I’m at it, all the better.

And what do you have to do, exactly?

Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their blog

Answer 11 questions assigned to you by them

Nominate at least 5 bloggers and notify them about it

Prepare 11 questions for your favourite bloggers to answer

Post your Liebster Award blog post link in the comments of your nominator’s Liebster Award Post

Alright, kittens. I’ve got two sets of questions to get through so I best get on it, then, eh? In this post I’ll answer the questions from the marvellous Mal

When and why did you start blogging?

I started blogging around 15 years ago, first as an online journal so my friends could follow my escapades after I moved from Scandinavia to the UK, followed by a beer blog for the past 5 years and now my own blog (which is about beer but other things also) which I only started this year.

What’s your biggest blogging success?

You know what hun, I haven’t a clue. I was nominated for a UK BLOG AWARD and now I got this lovely Liebster award and that’s all super exciting but I really think that the biggest success for me is that I’ve found a bunch of people who’s life I now follow on a daily basis, who I would’ve never met unless I and they were blogging. It’s pretty awesome, really.

What’s your biggest blogging challenge?

Sometimes I find it difficult to tone police myself. I try to be as honest and open as I can at all times, but when I write about things like depression or body image or toxic friends I worry I come across really harsh and insensitive, obviously without intending to be so. But I trust people will call me out on it if I were.

What inspires you?

Getting up in the morning is an achievement and everything else is a bonus. Everything inspires me. That’s not because I’m somehow clichély creative, but because I’m really easily pleased. So put a nice plate of food or a good pint in front of me and I’m on fire.

What are your blogging goals?

Just to keep blogging really. I have a voice and I want to use it, even if no one hears me screaming to the ether. I think the next step is to create an online magazine but I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. Right now it’s all about producing content regularly and enjoying it.

What do you enjoy the most about blogging?

Just to have a voice. That’s what blogging is all about, really, right? Having a voice and using it.

What did you learn through blogging?

How often your site can get hacked if you use wordpress and don’t secure your code properly. It f*cking sucks. Soz about that all, by the way.

How do you keep up with all social media platforms?

I’m kind of addicted to social media. Seriously. I had to buy myself a portable charger when I realised how it felt when your battery runs out and you can’t check twitter every 5 minutes. Never again.  I’m also the master of multitasking – I follow multiple twitter timelines on tweetdeck (if you have multiple accounts this platform is a must for you – and it’s free) while filtering images to Instagram and following my FB notifications.

Who is the blogging icon to you? Why?

You know what? I don’t think I have one. I know that sounds kinda weird. We all look up to people and hells yeah I have all the respect (and soul crunching envy) for people who make a living from blogging and I really wanna celebrate their successes for what they do… while I do my thing. I suppose when you’ve been blogging so long (I started with a LIVEJOURNAL account, people. THAT’S A LONG TIME AGO) you’ve seen so many people you come and go. I don’t know man. You’re all special to me.

Who is your style icon?

Oh dear. I don’t think I have one. I have very little style to begin with, I don’t really follow fashion apart from the “I would never wear that what the hell is this” reaction I get sometimes. I suppose my style icons are “comfort” and “hide my jiggly belly”. There.

The best blogging advice you’ve ever received?

Just do you and never compare yourself to anyone else. Oh, and there’s room for everyone in the blogosphere. Boom.

So what’s next?

I’m going to nominate some of my favourite bloggers for the award and if they accept it (by following the rules above), I get to spy deeper into their blogging lives, which for me is great. I would like to nominate:

Polly from The Polway – Because trust me guys, this girl is a star. She’s got a very no-nonsense approach to style, beauty and LIFE and she is also funny as. I’m totally biased because I know her outside of the world wide web too but I’m OK with that.

Maikel from Maikels Word – Because his blogs are always super stylish, insightful and his reviews on some super quirky products are really funny and honest and entertaining.

Karoliina Kazi – Because I love following her around the globe on her travels. I love her amazing photoskills cos man, this girl brings the world to your screen like whoa. Also, I totally head the fanclub for her dog Annie who is the cutest.

Alex from Lexpander – I know it’s men’s style and all that but I am so fascinated by this blog. Alex has got such an entertaining way of writing, he could probably write about collecting rocks and I’d be intrigued.

The Nine by Ivana – Because girl, I love your style! She’s always dressed up in the most fabulous and stunning outfits and I absolutely adore her dress sense.

I spy with my little eye the following questions for you guys:

1. What was the first blog you ever read? 2. What inspired you to start your own blog? 3. Has your blog changed along the way, from when you started to now? 4. What would you tell your younger self who is just about to start blogging? 5. Has your blogging style changed? 6. Have you got a favourite among all the posts you’ve written? 7. What do you enjoy writing about the most? 8. What’s your biggest blogger bug-a-boo? 9. How do you deal with writers block? 10. What’s the best thing about your blogger-life? 11. What’s next for you on the blogosphere?

I’ll get to questions from the The Wandereuse in a later post – But in the meantime give her and Mal and all my nominees some love guys, they deserve lots and lots and lots ❤❤❤
