Christmas lunch at the Faulkner

Every year a girlfriend of mine organises a whopping large group of us to get together for a Christmas lunch, where we raise a glass to celebrate friendship, the holidays, and loved ones who are no longer with us. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a sad affair. It’s very festive and it’s about celebrating friends and family, past and present and there’s nothing sad about it. It’s something I look forward to every year and it sets off my Christmas period.

So every year we get together at the Faulkner in Hoole and stuff ourselves with fabulous festive food and copious amounts of wonderful wine and bonkers beers. We’re Christmas connoisseurs and we ask for a lot… and the Faulkner always delivers. Not only is the food delicious, there’s a lot of it. And it’s always served with a friendly smile.

I wolfed down a starter of chicken liver parfait with toast and red onion chutney and, obviously, a traditional, festive turkey roast with all the trimmings. I put up a valiant fight but in the end the roast defeated me and there was no way I could finish it. Beaten by a turkey. How embarrassing.

I was far too full for dessert (unless you count wine as dessert. I do.) but Jo had a beautiful Christmas pudding with lashings of brandy sauce and it looked delish, so there.

You can grab 2 courses of Christmas dinner for £19.95 or 3 courses £24.95 – and you can view the menu here.
